New Call In Line on Enlighten Radio

Skype has made upgrade to its latest version irreversible. Thus a regular Skype number cannot host "conferencing on the fly". That means: 1) only one caller at at time can call in without bumping an existing caller off; 2) all phone interactions,  including ringing, pickup, etc are audio and cannot be muted without muting the broadcast.

Solution:

Use Free Conference Call Dot Com

Our new call in line: 605) 468-8895

Our PIN: 173923

This will enable us to queue calls without jamming the program, and know who's next so I don't call them by the wrong name! Free from around the globe :), well..most of it.

Podcast: NAME IN PROGRESS SHOW -- Bombs ifor the Libtards! -- 10.25.18

That's right, Friends. We did it again. Mike Diesel roared thru the Silence of the Osso Bucco Lamb Shanks. Only one squeak from Dr Lechter, and a shout out from Prez Kim Jung Un. Too bad for JB, who bailed for a football game--still a 'right' in America, if you got the ticket. But after a classic 'anger management' episode from Mike provoked by None Other than the Jefferson County Hound-dog from Peg Leg Lane in Shepherdstown, Mr. Bill, we got started on the Menu Below for "Dinner Out" , October 25, 2018, Bolivar, West Virginia, and

The Raw Edition of the FIRST "No Name Yet" is HERE -- The 10.18.18 Show

OK Folks, a revolution in talk radio is emerging on Enlighten Radio. The somewhat disorganized, but motivated battalions of Resistance are on the rails to the polls, as are Thumper and His Fools.

JB, Mike Diesel and John Case, representing 180 years of the Stones, the Dead, Bob Marley and Dylan styles approach to politics and culture, and other gifted folks who join us, as we expand our dining in the Eastern Panhandle of  West Virginia, are having  "Dinner Out".

Simultaneously the NAME IS IN PROGRESS Program runs through a menu of weekly themes and courses,  and we see beneath the waves to the continental shifts erupting in our fave restaurant. Do not be concerned about occasional appearances on the Program by Dr. Hannibal Lechter, President Kim Jong Un, and Rush Limbaugh.

Tracy Cannon with Eastern Panhandle Protectors

I interview Tracy Cannon, about the pipeline being built in the eastern panhandle. Although it was hid from the public when they began construction of the pipeline to Martinsburg, it has become apparent that the primary intent of the pipeline in the Eastern Panhandle is to service heavy industry, most notably Rockwool, in Jefferson County.

We talk about the danger of locating a pipeline in our county, and opportunities to oppose it

Rock and Roll Poets All Morning

OK folks. I am on RnR poets thing. The playlist this morning does some ancient and little known Dylan, Jackson, Marley, K'naan.

Lots of changes coming on the station. Been programming seriously for the first time since I quit Microsoft to both automate (and disguise the automation) the feeds and scheduling. Having lots of fun battling senility with Python. 😊

I have given up battling the fact that as long as its mainly me designing the schedule, there will be some bias to the broadcast content. IF YOU WANT TO DO RADIO AND TAKEOVER PART OF THIS -- CALL ME! 💓

In the meantime: here are the categories -- the things my feeds fill -- comments welcome!!

1. News mornings and evenings
2. Live shows -- Mondays, tuesdays - thursdays, Fridays mornings after news.
3. Old Time Radio
4. Live Music
5. Jazz-Blues
6. Rock and Roll Poets
7. Social science -- economics, sociology, history, health policy
8. Storytelling and lit
9. Science
10. Politics and Labor -- of the hard kind:  campaigns, interviews, etc.

More to come....

cheers

John

A Winners and Losers Special -- 10 AM Sunday -- Kevin Carden on the County Commission elections

Folks

The Winners and  Losers Radio Program has been on hiatus. The  Enlightenradio.org radio station has been undergoing substantial reconstruction.Expect its full return, but in a revolutionary new format, by the end of  May.

Today, however we host a special WL broadcast with Kevin Carden, Town Recorder for Harpers Ferry who is running for the County Commission in Jefferson County.

The situation in the County is a mess, especially since a gang of fools won 3 seats in the last round. Kevin will hopefully explain what's at stake for citizens in the up coming elections, primary and general.

Today, 10 AM. Go to enlightenradio.org and click on the player. Start listening.

California Explosion is STILL on deck, here in Almost Heaven Springtime West Virginia.

cheers

Folks:

Today begins the beginning of  countryside California, with Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, and Buck Owens leading the charge. Live recordings from the EnlightenRadio.org concerts vault. Plus a trip down the oft-forgotten paths of LA R&B from wayback. The Robins, The Flames, The Penguins, The Coasters, and more.

Not only that! The latest storytelling shows with Fanny and Stas, and powerful Recovery stories from James Boyd's recovery radio are in the 24/7 California Explosion rotation. Hopefully the new Whats Playing App will go live this week. Look for it on http://whatsplaying.enlightenradio.org.

California explosion part seis -- plus more!

Today begins the latest evolution of 24/7 California Explosion -- of live performances!

The Headliners:

  • Taj Mahal--Immigrating to Los Angeles in 1964, Henry Saint Clair Fredericks uses the stage name Taj Mahal, a self-taught singer-songwriter and film composer who plays the guitar, piano, banjo, and harmonica, among many other instruments. He incorporates elements of world music into his works and has done much to reshape the definition and scope of blues music over the course of his almost 50-year career.
  • Jackson Browne -- The southern california herald and Morpheus  of Melancholy -- Like Taj, a professional R & R singer-songwriter and bandman for nigh on 50 years.
  • Van Morrison -- This is a cheat, since Van lived in Fairfax, California only briefly a long time ago. But everything he says of Ireland is true of Northern California! The Los Angeles river sings a Celtic tune in the wet season. Hah
  • Keb' Mo'--Born in Compton, California --4-time Grammy winner and a(nother) major re-inventor of  the blues medium. From Papa John Creech till now, he has injected the blues into nearly every style of life and music, across the world. He finally gave up California and moved to Nashville. Oh well.

California Explosion Part Cinq -- Non-Stop Mac-Zappa -- and NEW STORYTELLING

Good morning everyone:

We proceed with the April California Explosion focusing on Fleetwood Mac and Frank Zappa for the next 48 hours.

Fleetwood Mac was born in London, but was reborn in Los Angeles to become one of the highest selling bands of all time. Enlighten Radio's live concert recordings include both pre and post the Buckingham/Nicks transformation from blues  to California Rock.

Frank Zappa -- no one speaks for Frank but Frank -- and there is an ocean of live recordings. Zappa was an LA immigrant, like many, and some of his origin in gritty Baltimore remained -- but Zappa belonged in California, and knew it.

At Noon today and Wednesday,  Fanny and Stas tell stories about Stephen Hawking, the famous scientist who passed away March 14.

California Back Alley Blowup -- Part Quatro

The latest storytelling shows from Fanny and Stas, and James Boyd's  Recovery Radio are circulating this month on EnlightenRadio.org, along with part quatro of the California Explosion:

24/7 for the next 48 hours:

Jack Johnson --- He's Hawaiian but graduated from Santa Barbara. Also professional surfer.
Counting Crows -- from Berkeley, California! Watch out when they are drunk on stage -- things get a bit adult. Recovering the satellites of American culture.

Dwight Yoakam -- The Western in Country and Western from Bakersfield, following the lead of Buck Owen.

Elvin Bishop -- born in Glendale -- a mile or so from where  I lived in Echo Park. A pre-Boomer, and classic guitarist for the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. ARG -- also coming up soon. We may not be able to cover california in just a month.

And of course, the Firesign Theater continues.

cheers.

The EnlightenRadio.org bottomless collection of live recordings focuses on California for April. For the next 48 hours a marathon concert featuring BB King, Bonnie Raitt, and Boz Scaggs -- all either born in or adopted by California --- share the stage. Not only that, they appear in a fugue rotation, votexing 30 years of performance into a  sky of stars  worthy of William Blake -- California is the future, or there may not be one.

The Moose Turd Cafe: Teachers Score Chinese Victory -- Dr. Lechter MOVES to IHOP

Good Morning:

The Moose Turd Cafe upgrades its fare today with the force of hope displayed by West Virginia Teachers and service personnel. Dr Hannibal Lechter is spending the morning at IHOP adding his renown reductions to the menu.

Governor Jim Justice -- in other respects a disgraced Jackass surpassing even FORMER NJ governor Chris Christie in wasted flesh and fatuous, obsequious Trumper stupidities -- reached a tentative agreement with unions and associations representing teachers and service workers for a 5% raise -- 5 5imes the nothing offered earlier.

Still unaddressed -- fully funding PEIA. Justice promises to "fix it", but his promises are worthless "DONE DID IT" VAPOR -- like the details of his 83 Billion Dollar China deal.....

Watch out for the incompetent ALEC flunkeys in the legislature trying to sabotage the tentative agreement.

We broadcast live at 7 AM most weekdays on Enlightenradio.org from the Red Caboose Studio in Bolivar, West Virginia.

Other items:
